At Danu World, we strongly encourage you to stay safe in the sun. Exposure to harmful radiation and tanning beds can cause skin cancer. We know that skin cancer is on the increase and the best way to protect your skin from UV rays and harmful free radicals is to use a sunscreen lotion. When tanning, you need to protect yourself from the UVA and UVB rays. They stand for UltraViolet Aging and UltraViolet Burning. Think about them in those terms and it really hits home as to what they actually do to your skin.
Natural and Organic Sunscreen at Danu World
Take care to check your sun lotion to ensure that you are covered for both UVA and UVB exposure. Not all sunscreen is broad spectrum to cover both. Your sunscreen has a shelf life. Once opened, most sunscreen will start to degrade and the sunscreen lotion SPF will decrease in time. It isn’t suitable to use products from last year as you risk burning. Use them up at the end of your holiday as a body moisturiser.
You must also ensure that you are giving your skin the correct coverage. It is easy to skimp on your sunscreen and think you have covered your exposed skin when you haven’t. The correct amount is one teaspoon to cover the face and neck and this must be reapplied every two hours. Six tablespoons for an entire adult body is the recommended amount. This works out at approximately half a teaspoon to each arm, one teaspoon per leg and the rest over your chest, shoulders and back. If your natural suncream isn’t water resistant then it must be reapplied each time you come out of the pool or sea.
We understand your concerns about dangerous chemicals in sunscreen, this is why we have chosen natural sunscreen ranges. You want water resistant where possible without polluting our oceans. You asked for a broad-spectrum sunscreen that will act like skin care and treat your skin whilst protecting from the sun. Safe sunscreen is important to you and the ingredients matter. They matter to us too.
We have researched the best certified organic sunscreen and have found EQ EVOA. This natural sunscreen brand is full of organic ingredients, water resistant and kind to sensitive skin. It is a broad spectrum sunscreen lotion and is the first certified non-ecotoxic sunscreen on the market. Safe to our marine life and oceans. Available in both sunscreen SPF 30 and SPF 50. Silicone free and packed full of organic shea butter, these organic sun cream ingredients will make for a safer tanning cream than the chemical filled ones that you may have used in the past.
This range is perfect for the whole family. You don’t need to have a bottle for each family member with different SPF. SPF 30 is a good all-rounder. Titanium dioxide is the ingredient that acts as a sunscreen. Titanium dioxide sits on the skin and acts as a barrier to the UVB and UVA rays. It doesn't penetrate the skin.
What is an SPF?
SPF stands for sun protection factor. Sunscreen SPF ratings are a formula for determining how long you can stay safely in the sun without burning. If you burn after 15 minutes in the sun without sun protection, then using an SPF 20 means you can stay safely in the sun for 20x15mins = 300 minutes in the sun without burning. It is recommended to use a higher sun protection factor than you think you will need. Most people do not use the correct amount of sunscreen and don’t reapply often enough. This means that their factor 20 often equates to a factor 10. You can still tan using a high protection sunscreen so don’t worry that you won’t come back from holiday without a tan (if that is your aim).
